Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory

On a rainy Sunday afternoon, I had a chance to go visit the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. After spending nearly a decade of winters here in the Keys, it was a 'first' for me to visit this amazing museum. The Conservatory has an impressive collection of flowering plants, waterfalls, and trees that set the stage for the "flowers of the sky." 50 to 60 different species of butterflies from around the world fly freely in the climate-controlled, glass-enclosed habitat.

Devastation of the Fish Population

I went for a walk on the beach with my camera this morning and was shocked to see the thousands (literally) of dead fish washed ashore. A combination of unseasonably cold temperatures and other factors have devastated the fish population here in the Florida Keys. It is sad to see and it makes me wonder what the fallout will be from such a huge loss.
